Description
Installable offline-capable progressive web app designed as a spiritual companion for Ramadan.
Provides verified prayer schedules aligned with Morocco's Ministry of Islamic Affairs (Habous), an integrated Quran reader, and an automatic reading bookmark.
- Official Moroccan Habous Ministry prayer time calculations.
- Quran reader with Khatmah tracker resuming at the exact last read verse.
- 100% offline functionality powered by Service Workers and LocalStorage.
Behind the project
Challenges
- Bringing prayer times, a Quran reader, and Khatmah tracking into one reliable, fully offline place.
- Designing a calm, distraction-free experience instead of another notification-heavy app.
Trade-offs
- LocalStorage + Service Workers for 100% offline use, trading away an easier-to-evolve backend-dependent approach.
- Prioritizing a serene, time-of-day-adaptive interface over information density.
Lessons learned
- A product born from a real personal need (juggling two separate apps) tends to end up more polished than a purely academic project.
